updates ...

Clocked in a whooping 14 hours of work yesterday. By the time I reached home, I was too exhausted to think of anything else other than sleep.

And now is just another start to a crazy day. Thank God it's Friday ...

Lilian and Andrew : Wishing You Guys Everlasting Happiness!

Well, today is Lilian's (my sister) marriage registration. It was held at the National Registration Department over at Maju Junction, Kuala Lumpur. Everyone seemed anxious especially the parents, both mine and Andrew's (my bro in-law).

This is the first time I am witnessing a marriage registration and surprisingly it is a short and snappy process. Yeah, the officers in-charge did seem like they have not taken their morning dose of caffeine, but since Lilian and Andrew's managed to get the first number (thanks to me, of course!), the registration was over in less than 20 minutes.

To Andrew and Lilian - May you love dearly: as Husband and Wife

updates ...

Well, its official - I'm too lazy to even update this blog despite it being a mean of communication for my friends. Come to think of it, I don't think any of them even bothered to visit this page ... haha ... pathetic right? I guess I should turn this blog into an avenue for me to just keep track of my life. I might just read these words in another 5 years or so and reminisce about it ... provided I can get my lazy butt to update it ...

So today, it is been almost 3 weeks since I started work at this new place. Life has been pretty hectic beginning from the fourth day where I was assigned a programming task. I guess I was thrown to the deep end just to see if I'll sink or swim. So how am I doing right now? I guess 'floating' best describes it ... at least I was able to complete the task given albeit at a very slow pace.

I guess the next step is for me to start moving my ass and swim!

Same Shit, Different ...?

Had the following conversation with another friend of mine who was contemplating leaving her current workplace:

A (my friend) : It's gonna be the same even in other workplace.
Me: How is it so? Isn't it gonna be a working environment, new challenges, more $$$?
A : Most likely the same problem that we face in the our current work is going to happen again in the new place. There will still be idiots who are gonna make life a hell for us. Same shit, different toilet-bowl.
Me: Hahaha, I think the more appropriate saying would be "Same Shit, Different Assholes"!!
LOLz

I guess it is inevitable that we will face a few (or a lot if you are damn unlucky) of these 'asshole(s)' in our life. The key lies in how we actually manage them wiping them clean after they have crapped!

Lunch-mates

Well, I guess postings in my blog about my (old) workplace will never be complete without one on my lunch-mates.

*Alwen's Farewell dinner at TGIF ... (L-R) Kun, Angela, Me, Heng, Lam (Mr Jacq), Jacq, Sin, Alwen

Thinking back, I wasn't so sure why we are able to click so well together but we do share a lot of common grounds eg:
  • scholarship receipient
  • works in the IS Dept
  • speaks Cantonese
  • spend most of the lunch-time together
  • crazy ... (maybe just me)
Yeap, that's right! All of them are scholarship receipients and I have known them since 2002, during the scholarship orientation camp. But the friendship really blossomed after we have start work together. Lunch with them is always a joy!

More pictures of them!

The Last Day ... Part III

I received two parting gifts from the people of my workplace on my last day of work. The first one is housed in a black and gold box, with the distinctive 'Sheaffer' label on the outside and the other box, in black, has the label of 'Suave' embossed on it.

The two Parting Gifts

The first gift, a present from my Department, consists of a pen with black ink and a name-card holder/pouch. Well, I really like the pen as it gives the right 'hold', due to its weight and size, and the name-card holder is just what I really needed! I have also gotten to know that this gift was personnally chosen by my cubicle mate cum office-gf, Sarah. ;)

The Pen and the name-card holder/pouch from the great people in my department

The second gift, is a present by the Share Registrar department. It is a red tie, made of pure silk and personnally, I think it projects a mature image. Just the right thing for appointments and meetings!

THANK YOU to all of you guys!!!

The Last Day ... Part II

Well, a lot has happened today! Despite only getting approximately two hours of sleep, I managed to drag myself out of bed and went to work.

The morning was rather uneventful. It is only nearing lunch-hour that I managed to keep myself occupied, by helping out in the Hari Raya luncheon. Yeap, that is right, the people in my office decides to organise a luncheon on my last day or work!! The food was yummy-licious and I managed to stuff myself silly with sate, nasi briani and lemang! I also had fun snapping photos of the team.

The rest of the day, I pretty much spent it running around saying my farewells and taking more photos.

My Farewell Email

This is the farewell email that I sent out to my colleagues and friends from my workplace. One of my colleagues thought that the poem was written by me, until she saw the JRR Tolkien credit. Well, if only I possess 10% of the GREAT Tolkien's literary skills and creativity, that would be sufficient!

Dear colleagues and friends,

I would like to take a moment to let you know that I will be leaving my current position in xxxxxx and today will be my last day.

Thus, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for making my stay here a truly memorable experience. Despite my rather short tenure here, I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with you. Thank you for the support, guidance and encouragement you have provided me during my time here.

With kindest regards and best wishes for the future in all that you do.

Weng

"The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
And wither then? I cannot say."

The Last Day

Today is going to be the last day of work in my first job as an IT Executive. Officially, I am still a staff until the end of the month, but with 7 days of annual leave left, I pretty much have a week off before starting at the new place.

Since tendering my resignation letter about 3 weeks ago, a lot of memories flooded back into my mind about the time that I have spent here (exactly 1
½ years). Not surprising that most of them are not work related (heck, who will miss work??), but rather the time that I have spent with the colourful characters there, namely my lunchmates, colleagues and users.

Guess that I am going to miss them all!!
